Riverside Minor Baseball 10U AAA Tournament

July 26 – 28, 2024

  1. All teams are guaranteed 4 games weather permitting. REFUND POLICY WILL BE AS FOLLOWS DUE TO WEATHER. 
  • 3 games played ( 25% refund)
  • 2 games played (50% refund)
  • 1 game played (75% refund)
  • No games played (100% refund)

2. All teams are provided with schedule and rule package. Having said that, teams should always double check and rely on the tournament web site for schedule and standings. Change of schedule due to weather will be communicated via text.

3. All games will be played at Realtor Park providing weather is favorable.

4. Upon arrival of the first game, please stop at the convenors tent, retrieve the player of the game awards (one is handed out per pool play game to the opposing team), score sheets, rules and give cell numbers of two rostered coaches for weather updates. 

TOURNAMENT RULES:

The rules of MLB and the OBA will apply with the following notes:

    1. Home team will be the designated official scorer. The home team will also be responsible for capturing the pitch count in the pitch count app in real time ( either pitch by pitch or at the end of each inning) during the game. 
    2. Lineups should be exchanged 15 minutes before the game. OBA pitching rules apply as per the 10u rules. Home team will score the game and enter pitches via the app live as per RP2.11(r).
    3. Important – All coin tosses will be completed at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the game. Coin tosses will take place at home plate at this time. A member of your coaching staff must arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time to complete the coin toss. The team travelling the furthest will make the call on the coin toss. Score sheets which includes pitch counts must be SIGNED BY BOTH TEAMS and RETURNED to the tournament table located behind Realtor West Diamond immediately after the conclusion of the game. OBA pitching rules apply.
    4. In case of rain and/or other delays, the tournament schedule may be revised at the convenors discretion. Please provide two coaches cell phone numbers when arriving to the diamond before your first game.
    5. Pool play games will be 7 innings in length. No new inning will start after 1hour and 45 minutes from time of the first pitch. The umpire should notify both teams and the scorekeeper of the time of first pitch.
    6. Quarter-final and Semi-final games will be 7 innings in length. No new inning will start after two hours from time of first pitch.
    7. Championship game will be 7 innings in length, NO TIME LIMIT.
    8. Ties will be allowed to stand in pool play only. There will be no extra innings in pool play.
    9. There will be no pre game warm up on the infields. If available, the out field may be used. Please take advantage of the open space at Realtor Park to start warm up while waiting for games to finish.
    10. In all OBA games an 18 run mercy rule will apply after 3 innings ( 2 ½ innings if the home team is ahead), 15 after 4 innings (3 ½ innings if the home team is ahead), and a 10 run mercy rule will apply after 5 innings (4 ½ innings if the home team is ahead). There will also be a 9 run mercy rule after 6 innings (5 ½ innings if the home team is ahead).OFFICIAL GAME:  A 7 inning game will be considered an official game after 4 innings of play or 3 ½ innings if the home team is ahead. If a game is stopped for weather, light failure or park curfew after becoming and official game, it is over. If the game is stopped for weather, light failure, curfew prior to becoming an official game, then it is suspended and will be resumed from the point of suspension. 
    11. The decision of the umpires is final. Protests will be resolved on the field by the umpires in consultation with the tournament convenor or their designate. Head coach and managers are responsible for the conduct of their team members, parents and fans. Abuse of umpires (berating, yelling or insulting) will not be tolerated and is grounds for removal from the park and/or tournament. 
    12. The score of a forfeited game will be recorded as 7-0, and 5 innings for tie breaking purposes.
    13. In case of ties in standing the following will be used as per OBA Constitution RP7.4 (a) and (b) 

(a) – In tournaments where tie breaking rules are required, the following tie breaking rules will be used for each placement independently. 

  1. Teams with a forfeit loss are ineligible for tiebreakers.
  2. Head to Head record amongst tied teams
  3. Team with smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in games amongst tied teams
  4. Team with smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in all games
  5. Team with highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) amongst tied teams
  6. Team with highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in all games

 Coin toss

(b) when there are three or more teams tied, the tie breakers will exclude RP7.4 (a) (2)

After the winner of the tie breaker is determined, the tiebreaker will continue, if necessary, excluding RP7.4 (a) (2) as long as there are 3 or more teams tied. When only two teams remain, the tie breaker will start at RP7.4 (a) (1).

14.  As stated above, teams are required to stop at the tournament tent to submit two coaches cell phone numbers, along with their teams OBA number. Teams must have copies of OBA approved rosters with them, but do not have to leave copies with the convenors. The convenor will log the OBA number before the teams first game. 

15. Tournament awards are limited to players only

16. Riverside Royals accept no responsibility for any injuries, damages, or losses to anyone during the tournament.

17. Teams are asked to retrieve foul balls hit during games. No time will be added for delays in ball retrieval.

18. Please conduct post game meetings off the fields. Please gather all equipment and personal items as quick as possible to keep games on schedule. Remove all water bottles and garbage from dugouts after every game.

19. All teams must be prepared to start 30 minutes early before their scheduled game time if needed for weather or other game times going over or under their time limits.

20. The home team will inform the home plate umpire of the official score keeper and pitch counter prior to the start of the game. 

21. Pitch counts of the official pitch counter will be the ONLY numbers used by the umpire during a game regardless of what numbers any coach or spectator may have. No appeal or protest of the numbers recorded will be permitted. It is suggested that coaches check the pitch count of a pitcher recorded by the official pitch counter at the conclusion of every inning.

22. Coaches shall sign the official score card immediately following the conclusion of the game acknowledging the Pitch Counts of the pitchers used during the game. In the event of a discrepancy, the pitch counts of the official pitch counter shall stand. In the event a coach fails to sign the score card, the pitch counts recorded will be considered official and no appeal or protest of the numbers will be allowed at a later time.
